NEC, responsible for PC98 and Shift_JIS, is one of the many Japanese companies that like to feed bullshit to their unsuspecting customers.

The other day I was paging through a NEC catalog, not planning to buy anything (NEC stuff is severely overpriced, more so than say, IBM in U.S.), but just to check out the latest idiocy trends.

What do you know. NEC loves to pimp the ISP they own, called biglobe. So, here's the ad.

  • You buy a NEC "broadband" computer.
  • You buy a NEC 503i series cellphone.
  • Your NEC "broadband" computer comes with a $20 QuickCam color webcam.
  • You buy a "8M ADSL" "broadband" connection from Biglobe.
  • You are a female and you have a cat you love.
  • You point your quickcam color webcam at the cat, leaving your NEC "broadband" computer connected to the biglobe internet service, and you can use your NEC 503i series cellphone to look at pictures of your cat while you are at work and make sure your cat is allright.

Now, you all know how retarded this sounds. But, a dumb 22 years old female with a cat who still lives with her parents who have a bunch of money WILL see that commercial, go to the nearest Best Denki store, get sheep moded into buying a lot of extra shit she doesn't need or ever use, and NEC has another "satisfied customer".

If Japan had a law about truth in advertising, I think most jap companies would be sued to bankrupcy by now. No, not by japs, but probably by visitors from other, normal countries.
